How Blackbox Works
A simple, no-nonsense guide to how your data is protected. No tech jargon, just the facts.
1. Your PIN is the Magic Key
Blackbox is unique because it doesn't just have one password. The PIN you type decides which vault opens.
- AType 1111 → Opens your Main Vault (Real stuff)
- BType 2222 → Opens a Decoy Vault (Empty/Safe stuff)
- CType 3333 → Opens another separate vault!
2. If You Forget, It's Gone
We take privacy seriously. We do not know your PIN. We cannot reset it for you.
⚠️ Important:
If you lose your PIN, you lose the data inside that vault forever. There is no backdoor.
3. Cloud Sync is Encrypted
When you sync, we save your vault to the cloud so you don't lose it if you break your phone. But don't worry—it's uploaded as a scrambled lockbox. We can host the file, but we can't see what's inside.
4. The "Time Machine" Trick
This is a cool detail about how Blackbox works: When you change your PIN on your phone, the vault updates locally.
If you don't sync immediately, the Cloud still remembers your OLD PIN version.
This means if you restore from backup using your OLD PIN, you get a "clone" of your vault from back then. It's like a time machine! 🕰️
